Ruma town, 3. March 2012.- Held since 1747, the fair in Ruma is the biggest in the state, and many people say it is even the largest in the Balkans. Sellers and buyers from all around Serbia and neighboring countries are coming to Ruma on the third day of every month, 12 times a year, to buy or sell their goods. Up to 30,000 people visit this event. My goal was to photograph people as they overpass ground hillock with their merchandise bought at the open market. Just by staying there in one particular place for couple of hours, watching, was able to create a profile of an average consumer society in rural Serbia.
