White carnival

This year, in the village of Glavica in central Serbia, traditional festivity marking the end of white week and the beginning of fasting period took place. This tradition is over hundred years old in the area, and it is held throughout Balkans, matching the global carnival season. Masked participants are walking around the village, followed by music and joy, collecting eggs and other goods from the hosts of the village houses. Not needed to emphasize that this celebration, as all the others in this part of the world, can not pass without rakia and food in huge quantities. Heavy rain was unlucky coincidence for the participants, who walk around from dawn until dusk, or vice versa, judging by the masks and atmosphere.
