Road to EU

After 20 years of isolation, sanctions, wars and many other problems, in December of 2009 citizens of Serbia got a first sign of goodwill on their way to become a member of European union.

Their passports were on the white list, meaning that they can travel to member countries of EU without visas. It was a first but significant step in a process of transition.

I was covering the story about first group of 50 citizens that traveled to Europe without visas. It was their first trip to any of the European union countries so i tried to cover their point of view.

Sadly, nine years later, Serbia is still pretty damn far away from becoming a member and has high hopes that in the year 2020 negotiations about joining will begin…
